The full journey from Milan to Venice by Frecciarossa takes approximately 2 hours 25 minutes, covering 265 km. The Milan–Verona leg is around 60 minutes, and Verona–Venice around 70 minutes. Milano Centrale, Verona Porta Nuova and Venezia Santa Lucia stations are all right in the heart of each city — so you go straight from the train to your hotel, no transfers needed.

The Northern Italy route works year-round, but has standout seasons. Spring (April–June) is ideal: perfect temperatures, Lake Garda near Verona at its most beautiful, and Venice before the summer crowds. Autumn (September–November) is equally recommended — especially September in Venice before the acqua alta season begins. In summer, Venice can get very crowded; in winter it’s quieter and more affordable, though fog and acqua alta are possible.

Yes — this is an outstanding route for educational groups. Milan offers Leonardo’s Last Supper and the iconic Duomo architecture; Verona allows students to study Roman history first-hand at the Arena and the Roman Theatre; Venice is a one-of-a-kind case study in architecture, hydraulic engineering and art history. We handle every detail for groups: permits, insurance, accommodation and educational activities. More information in our school trips section.

A flight from Milan to Venice emits approximately 55–65 kg of CO₂ per person. The same journey by Frecciarossa emits less than 9 kg of CO₂ per person — more than 85% less. On top of that, the train drops you right in the centre of each city, avoiding the 45-minute transfer from Milan Malpensa airport or the 30-minute vaporetto from Venice Marco Polo airport. On this route, travelling by train isn’t just the most sustainable choice — it’s also the most comfortable and logical one.
